Voice channels that create themselves and clean up after themselves

The usual channel list is twenty empty voice channels named things like "Voice 4", three of which get used. Temporary channels turn that around: whoever needs a channel joins the creator channel and gets their own. Once the last person leaves, it disappears again.

The channel belongs to whoever opened it

Whoever opened the channel runs it: /voice-rename gives it a fitting name, /voice-limit caps the number of people, /voice-lock seals it and /voice-hide takes it off other people's list. Nobody has to message a moderator for any of it. That is the single most common reason voice channels end up badly organised.

Awkward situations are covered too

/voice-kick removes someone from your own channel, /voice-ban keeps them out for good and /voice-unban reverses it. If the owner leaves, someone else can take over with /voice-claim; /voice-transfer hands control on deliberately before you go.

Cleanup happens by itself

Empty temporary channels are deleted automatically, including any left over after the bot restarts. If you want, every temporary voice channel can also get its own text channel, which disappears along with it. The channel list stays readable permanently, with nobody having to tidy up after the fact.

The commands for this

These slash commands belong to this module. Discord shows them with a description as you type, so nobody has to memorise them.

  • /voice-rename
  • /voice-lock
  • /voice-limit
  • /voice-kick
  • /voice-claim
  • /voice-transfer

Frequently asked questions

What happens to the channels when the bot restarts?

On startup Nephthys spots leftover empty channels and clears them away. A restart therefore leaves no orphans behind in the channel list.

Can I set up several creator channels?

Yes. You can create several creator channels, for example one per game or topic, and set for each in the dashboard which category the new channels appear in and how they are named.

Does every voice channel get its own text channel?

Only if you enable that mode in the dashboard. With it on, each temporary voice channel gets a matching text channel that is deleted along with it during cleanup.
